Basic courses in acting and theatre appreciation introduce students to
the world of theatre and to the excitement of stage performance. The
instructional program augments an active production series each year. In
the fall, students perform a Reader’s Theatre style production, featuring
original scripts that are based on short stories. New plays with
challenging and contemporary themes are presented for a three-week run
each spring. A hallmark of the program is the appeal of probing issues to
a diverse and loyal community audience. The Theatre Department also offers
an immensely popular program ARTS ALIVE!, a series of guest performances
by musicians, dancers, and other professional performers.
