Takoma Park Campus

The associate in arts degree (A.A.) program at Takoma Park combines a foundation in art courses with general education requirements. Exposure to core art skills prepares students for advanced study or entry into employment. The program focuses on breadth of experience.

The student body at the Takoma Park Campus is diverse and cosmopolitan, representing more than 100 nationalities. This cultural pluralism enriches the art program as faculty members emphasize creative expression drawn from the aesthetics of many cultures.

Monthly art exhibits in the Pavilion of Fine Arts Gallery have been a mainstay of the art program since its inception, along with lectures, art demonstrations, and workshops by faculty and guest artists. These special events enhance classroom instruction and expand students’ learning experiences.

The location near the Washington, D.C., Metro provides students and faculty with rapid access to a range of art galleries and some of the finest museums in the world. A  Museum Resources course is specifically designed to enable students to use the resources of this vast visual library. Field trips for all art classes assure that our students have rich opportunities for learning by direct encounter with works of art.
